During the week, there will be specific events that are only for that day. But, students can also enjoy a Mindfulness Break at the North Campus from 3 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Students can also enjoy free skating events over at the Campus Ice Centre from from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m., and skates will be provided when students show their student ID.

North campus students are invited to the MHAW North Campus Kick off event in the UB Atrium from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., where students can come and play games, win prizes, and learn about the services available to students on Campus.
In support of the Mental Health Awareness Week, a sweat lodge ceremony will also be held on Tuesday. A sweat lodge ceremony is a cleansing ceremony, open to all UOIT students. It has been proven to be a great stress reliever, and rejuvenator. It is a way to help ground yourself, focus, and cleanse. You do not have to be Indigenous to enjoy a sweat lodge ceremony, and we encourage students of all cultures to experience it. The sacred fire starts at 11:00, and students will go into the lodge at 1:00. The ceremony will last about an hour and a half and then everyone is welcomed to stay for a tasty feast, at approximately 3:00. It will be located at 2300 Simcoe Street North, just north of Shagwells and the Campus Ice Centre. Take the road on the west side of Simcoe just before the housing development.
For more information about the sweat lodge, please email Jill Thompson at email@example.com.
Students can also join the Art with Impact event happening from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, where students will watch movies about mental health and have a discussion afterwards. PLEASE NOTE: Lunch will be provided.
Wednesday, October 7th
Therapeutic Paws will be happening on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. in UA 1240, where students have the chance to sit and pet some dogs for some fun and relaxation. This event is drop in style, and students can stay for as long as they’d like.
Thursday, October 8th
Finally, to end the week off, students are invited to an Open Mic afternoon at E.P. Taylor’s. Students can show off their musical abilities, and are welcome to watch their fellow students from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
We look forward to seeing you in attendance to the events, and thank you for helping bring awareness to Mental Health!
